ceasefire isn’t enough.

15000 lives snuffed out by israel, armed by america. 10000 in prison, several hundred of them children. millions displaced and homeless and starving. 50% of homes destroyed. 50+ journalists slaughtered, all hospitals destroyed, humanitarian organisations devastated, with information on those targets supplied directly by america for the sole purpose that they be obliterated in order to hide the extent of the carnage. the israeli hostages and even israeli civilians were rejected by israel and many gunned down. lies on lies on lies on lies from Israel because they’ll need no excuse so will invent their own as many times as they want in order to eradicate Palestinians. it’s not netanyahu. it’s not biden. the whole thing is rotten all the way down, as it has always been. remember this follows 75 YEARS of the same treatment but at a scale never seen before, over the course of a single month.

CEASEFIRE! IS! NOT! ENOUGH!

What’s going on in the congo rn is one of many many reasons that the right to repair is a VITAL tenant in leftism imo

At this point smartphones, laptops, and other similar devices are necessary for daily life in the US. Like if I did not have a phone and a laptop, I couldn’t hold down a job, it would be extremely difficult to access public transportation, my education depended upon my ability to access the internet, etc. Tech companies know that their products are indispensable. So do they make products that last? No of course not, they need you buying a new device every two years. That just makes sense under capitalism. But ofc this system spreads far beyond our borders; this system of planned obsolescence is supported by the plunder of the global south for lithium (like in Bolivia) and cobalt (like in Congo).

The imperialist extraction of resources could be challenged if, say, we could repair a device rather than needing to purchase a new one. Companies like apple know this, and have gone out of their way to make such things impossible just to continue making shit products for too much money. It sucks!

can i ask for some reading about what’s going on in Congo and how it’s related to cobalt mining?

Here’s an article that will give you an overview:

There’s a really deep and well researched podcast on these kinds of black community massacres called Dreams of Black Wall Street. It’s covered the Greenwood, Tulsa and Okoe massacres as well as Rosewood and others. I already knew these things happened generally, but the set up of context, scope, details of the events and the generational effects that it illuminates, have both blown my mind and given me an even deeper appreciation for black survival and joy in country the United States, even though I was already about my people.

If you care about the histories and liberation of oppressed peoples, this is an important one to listen to.

can’t count on one hand how many times ive cried this week because of everything that is happening in armenia. im so happy seeing people on tumblr talking about it.

turks and azeris buy the weapons they use to kill us FROM ISRAEL. if you are for “free palestine” you should be for “free armenia” and “free artsakh” as well. there is no supporting one and not the other.

there is no. supporting one. and not the other.

i’m trying to post a long list of informational resources on palestine and tumblr simply will not let me

is there a limit to how many links you can put on one post? it just says there’s a ā€œproblemā€

testing with one link

testing with two more

testing with three more

and the rest:

my intention in posting all these is as follows: i love everyone standing in genuine solidarity with palestine, but some of you are really uninformed and thus your talking points suck shit and you don’t know how to respond to the most basic, common lies about palestine and palestinians–sorry for being harsh, but it’s true. if you want your advocacy to be better, please actually know the basics of how this whole ā€œsituationā€ functions. the imeu has put together a lot of fact sheets^ that can help you get a basic understanding. note that these are all at least a few years old and not about extremely recent developments, like the current crisis, updated numbers on the population of west bank settlements, etc.

The Qatananis. The Abu Daqgas. The Al-Zaneens. The Chaabans. The Al-Attars. The Tahraouis. The Abu Hilals. The Al-Madhouns. Abu Zheir al-Lahham’s family. Nasser Shamlakh’s family. The Kulks. The Abu al-Oufs. The Halawas. The Saftaouis. The Azaize family. The Naffars.

These family names are amongst the families that were wiped out as a result of Israeli shelling and targeting of civilians of Gaza just during the past week.

It’s reported that over 50 entire families, with multiple generations, have been wiped off the civil registry.

The word for this is genocide.

There is still hope. Say it out loud. Palestine will be free. The Palestinian people will celebrate their culture and heritage with each other. We will love and be loved. Do not fall into the trap of despair.

I’m not saying this just for morale. I’m saying this as a reminder that the colonialist regime relies on your despair, uses it to further their propaganda. Once you lose hope, and tell everyone you lose hope, you are aiding the Zionist Entity.

Make it a point that you BELIEVE that Palestine will be free even in the face of genocide. Hope can halt genocide. Do not aid our oppressors.
